Our Licensed Acupuncturists in Berkeley Heights Help Our Patients with a Myriad of Symptoms
Acupuncture can be effective in treating illnesses, chronic pain, injuries, anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, addictions, weight control, infertility and much more. Acupuncture at our integrated medical clinic is often used as an adjunct therapy to our menu of rehabilitative services. The proof of acupuncture’s effectiveness is in it’s longevity. In fact, the earliest written record of acupuncture dates back to 200 BCE.
What to Expect During Your Acupuncture Session
Initially, our licensed acupuncturists will spend up to 30 minutes consulting with you including your current symptoms, diet, health history, sleep habits and more. Depending upon the problem, you will lie on a treatment table face down, on your back or on one side. A selection of acupuncture points is made, the most common being on your arms, below your elbows, on your legs and along either side of the spine. Each point is swabbed with alcohol before the needle is inserted.
Our licensed acupuncturists in our Berkeley Heights clinic may ask you to report any sensations of tingling or warmth around the site of the needles. These sensations indicate that the point has been correctly located. Needles are generally left in place for approximately 20 minutes.
The Benefits of Acupuncture Therapy
Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and helps to promote the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific acupuncture points. Hundreds of clinical studies on the benefits of acupuncture show that it successfully treats conditions ranging from musculoskeletal problems (back pain, neck pain and others) to nausea, migraine headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia and infertility.
